In the movies, what order should you watch your favorite Final Destination movies? This list will help to put them in chronological order.
The “final destination chronological order” is a movie that is about death and the afterlife. The film was released in 2000 and has been followed by two sequels.
The Final Destination films have carved itself a niche in the horror genre by putting kids through a series of intricate and gruesome ‘accidents’ since 2000. A succession of young individuals are killed off in purportedly random encounters in the ultimate game of survival, as shown in the films.
If you haven’t seen the Final Destination movies yet (or simply want to revisit them), this is the recommended chronological sequence in which to view them.
What Is the Number of Final Destination Films?
Over the course of 11 years, five Final Destination films have been released. The following is a chronological list of all Final Destination films:
- The Final Frontier (2000)
- The sequel to Final Destination (2003)
- 3rd and final destination (2006)
- The Final Frontier (2009)
- 5th and last destination (2011)
In chronological order, below are the films from the Final Destination franchise.
There are two ways to view the Final Destination movies in sequence: release order or chronological order. The best way to see the Final Destination films is in the order in which they were released; otherwise, you’ll lose out on the suspense and thrill of how each film is connected. The following is a chronological list of all Final Destination films:
1. Your ultimate destination (2000)
The film begins with a high school class boarding an airplane for a class trip to Paris. Alex (Devon Sawa), one of the students, has a vivid and terrifying vision of the aircraft exploding in mid-flight.
He hops up to get off, gets into a confrontation with another student, and, along with five other pupils and a teacher, is removed. The aircraft then takes off and explodes in mid-flight, as you would expect.
Of course, in light of the real tragedy of TWA Flight 800, which was also heading for Paris and had students on board, this situation is portrayed in the worst possible way. I’ll make a mental note of it and go on. The explosion acts as a set-up for the remainder of the movie, in which it seems that the survivors have been marked for death as well—and that Alex is psychic and can foresee their deaths.
Is he actually capable? Instead of using his eerie precognitions as a gimmick, the film enables the characters to vent their feelings of impending doom and impotence.
“Final Destination” isn’t all dialogue, and there’s an odd misalignment between the words and the action. The characters die one after the other, almost always as a consequence of a strange chain of events.
Because lightning, natural gas, knives, trains, power lines, and flying metal shards are all coordinated by destiny, explaining them would destroy the fun—if there is such a thing.
2. The Second Final Destination (2003)
Kimberley Corman is on her way to Daytona Beach with her pals for spring break when she had a vision while waiting to merge onto the highway. This ominous set-piece is a fan favorite among many series fans, and it’s easy to see why.
A truck’s load of massive logs falls from the sky, causing a massive pile-up with spectacular visual effects and horribly awful deaths. It’s a stunning sight that requires you to suspend your disbelief in order to really appreciate it.
Kimberley discovers she hasn’t left the entrance point when her premonition ends. She becomes panicked and parks her vehicle in the center of the road, blocking the way for everyone else. The majority of the people she saw being slaughtered in the pile-up are in the vehicles behind her, and they are all angry with her.
A pile-up develops ahead as Deputy Marshal Thomas Burke is conversing with her. Kimberley’s friends, who remained in the vehicle, are killed when they are hit by a fast truck.
We now have a better understanding of how this works. Death does not like to be duped, thus all of the people Kimberley helped died in accidents. Some of the most inventive and amusing episodes in the series (in a morbid sense).
Kimberley begins to see signs and warnings, but it is never too late. None of the other survivors first believed her. However, following a series of unfortunate circumstances, they all vow to try to avoid their destiny.
Final Destination 2 is not without issues. One that aspires to a bigger and better sequel but is thwarted by a narrative hole-riddled story and an early obsession with over-the-top killings. By the end of the film, you will have grown completely desensitized to the graphic imagery.
Here, the character count rises just to accommodate additional deaths. It’s not a significant flaw, but the most of the characters are dull to the point that you won’t care what happens to them.
3. 3rd and final destination (2006)
A bunch of youngsters celebrating their final year at a carnival spend the evening engaging in general immorality (as teenagers are want to do). Wendy joins her oblivious friends in taking photos for the yearbook. While playing games or waiting in line for transportation, she snaps pictures of each of her classmates.
As the night wears on, a large crowd (including everyone who had their picture taken) decides to ride “The Devil’s Flight” roller coaster. Wendy has a horrible feeling that when the rails abruptly disintegrate, all of the passengers will be badly harmed in a roller coaster disaster (as roller coaster tracks are want to do).
The surviving group is aware of the stakes at this point, and the rules are standard. Final Destination: There is a set sequence in which people die; if you are rescued, death will skip you; if death does not skip you, you will be screwed badly.
Without going into too much detail, at the town’s tricentennial, a horse goes wild and (among other things) impales someone Iwo Jima-style. After the dust settles, Wendy, Kevin, and Wendy’s younger sister are the only members of the original gang remaining. They are safe for reasons that are unknown.
We jump almost two years forward to a New York subway train. Wendy is out and about with her roommates, going about their everyday routines. She runs into her sister as she gets off the train, and the two exchange a few words before the train leaves.
Kevin was sitting in the front seat of the car when they saw him. Wendy has another terrible vision of the metro car derailing and murdering everyone on board when the three are reunited.
This time, though, the doors have already closed and the train has already departed the station. Even if she is aware of what is going to happen, none of them will be able to escape.
4. The Finishing Touch (2009)
Nick O’Bannon has a vision of a car crash killing many people, including many spectators, while watching a motor race at McKinley Speedway. Nick persuades his fiancée Lori to leave, as well as his friends Hunt and Janet.
A security officer called George Lanter, a bigot named Carter, a mother and her two sons, and a slew of other people trail Nick. Shortly after they depart, Nick’s prophesy comes true. Death, on the other hand, will not accept a negative response.
And the sights only become worse as the survivors of the collision die in more gruesome ways one by one. Before he, too, lands to The Final Destination, Nick must find out way to prevent death once and for all.
When survivors start to expire, Nick, his friends, and George must race against time to find and rescue the remaining survivors.
The first trilogy made over $150 million worldwide, and the new thriller is filmed in terrifying 3D by the same writing, directing, and producing team behind the phenomenally successful second sequel.
5th and last destination (2011)
This is the story of a group of young people who want to evade death and believe they’ve succeeded until death finally catches up with them. Sam, along with his friends Peter, Molly, Olivia, Candice, Nathan, Isaac, and Dennis, is attending a company retreat.
On their way to the retreat, they board the bus, and Sam has a vision of the bridge they’ll be crossing collapsing, killing everyone save Sam’s fiancée Molly. He persuades his other passengers to disembark, but the bus driver continues to drive, and the bridge falls, killing his buddies.
Sam and his buddies are horrified and can’t believe they’ve managed to avoid death. They all attend the funerals of their comrades, and a man comes to tell them that death is now pursuing them, which they ignore. Candice then passes away the following day during a gymnastics practice, Isaac passes away while having acupuncture, and Olivia passes away after eye surgery.
They begin to realize that death is closing in on them and that there is no way out. Then it’s Nathan’s turn, who narrowly avoids being murdered on a construction site when his buddy Roy is killed instead, and Dennis is killed by a wrench.
Peter is losing his mind and is willing to go to any extent to stay alive. He comes up to Sam’s restaurant, where Sam and Molly are eating, and tries to murder them, but is shot and killed.
When Sam and Molly board a plane to Paris, a guy starts yelling, claiming to have a vision of the aircraft exploding. Sam and Molly are horrified as the jet takes off; nevertheless, the plane explodes, killing both of them.
The passenger on the aircraft who kept shouting turns out to be a character from the first two Final Destination movies. Nathan is the only one left alive, and he feels he has cheated death, until the plane that had just exploded crashes into the tavern where he is drinking, killing him.
