Characters in Demon Slayer (Ranked)
1. Tanjiro Kamado (Japanese: Kamado Tanjiro
Tanjiro Kamado is the main character of Demon Slayer. He is a Demon Slayer in the Demon Slayer Corps, and he joined to discover a method to return his sister, Nezuko Kamado, to her human form.
Tanjiro’s greatest distinguishing characteristic is his capacity to sympathize with others, even Demons, which leads him to hesitate before attacking. This respite has the disadvantage of encouraging Demons to recover and continue the fight by taking advantage of his understanding temperament.
On the other side, as he grows older, he gets more calculating and rigid in his decisions.
His courage in protecting the defenseless ties him to respect and honor his opponent, whether they be good humans or evil Demons.
Underneath his apparently nice and courteous demeanor, Tanjiro is a person with a growing fire of rage and vengeance inside him. Tanjiro seemed to be oblivious to his surroundings as a Demon, as most individuals do when they initially begin their transformation.
He acted like a fierce beast, viciously attacking everyone who got in his way. It affected his colleagues and acquaintances as well. The one person he would not harm was Nezuko.
After his whole family was murdered by demons save for Nezuko, Tanjiro’s degree of sorrow is nothing short of terrible, instantly converting him into a sympathetic character and a near-perfect protagonist in the hearts of viewers.
From the epic fights he’s already been a part of to the latent potential that sits within him, Tanjiro is obviously meant for bigger things, and one can only hope that he and his sister get to live the lives they earned before tragedy struck their family.
2. Nezuko Kamado (Japanese:
Nezuko Kamado is the deuteragonist in Demon Slayer. She is a Demon, the younger sister of Tanjiro Kamado, and one of the Kamado family’s two surviving members. Before Muzan Kibutsuji attacked her and turned her into a Demon, she was a human.
She’s a small, fair-skinned girl with large, prominent fangs and long, claw-like nails that fade to crimson where they point. She’s wearing a light pink kimono with a hemp leaf design and a lighter pink lining, as well as a red and white checkered hanhaba obi with an orange threaded obi above it.
Nezuko’s initial human personality was that of a kind, caring young lady who, like her elder brother Tanjiro, placed others first. She was also a kind elder sister to her younger brothers, often putting their needs before of her own.
Nezuko is not afraid to put herself in harm’s path to protect her companions from Demons, even after being resurrected. Following Tanjiro’s apologies, Nezuko’s kind, laid-back demeanor seems to corroborate this.
The character’s dynamic is what makes her a fan favorite, encouraging followers to hope for a happy ending for her.
3. Kanao Tsuyuri (Japanese: Kanao Tsuyuri
Kanao Tsuyuri plays an important role in the narrative. Shinobu Kocho’s Tsuguko is a Demon Slayer of the Demon Slayer Corps and the adopted daughter of Shinobu and Kanae Kocho.
Kanao is a young woman with large, kind eyes that are framed by thick pink-lilac eyelashes. Her thin black hair is tied back into a ponytail on the right side of her head and fastened with a pink and green butterfly ornament that belonged to her adopted sister, Kanae Kocho. Her fringe is straight, with two chin-length strands flowing downwards behind both ears.
Because of the trauma she has experienced in the past, Kanao is an uncertain and shy adolescent when she first meets the Kocho sisters. She suppressed her emotions and grew hesitant to make her own choices as a protective strategy.
Despite her lack of emotion and ambition, Kanao disregarded Shinobu and Kanae’s wishes and made the ultimate choice on her own, indicating that her willpower had been growing all along.
Kanao gradually acquires the capacity to openly express her feelings and wants, as shown by her relief when Tanjiro recovers from his injuries, her informing Shinobu that she wanted to train alongside her, and her astonishment and dismay at Shinobu’s plot to defeat Doma.
During the last battle against Muzan Kibutsuji, Kanao was later shown to have completely recovered her ability to freely express her emotions and make her own choices.
The character’s unknown origins make her ideal for the Demon Slayer universe, and her emotional journey makes her quite appealing.
Shinazugawa, Genya
Genya Shinazugawa is another important supporting character. He is the younger brother of Sanemi Shinazugawa, the Wind Hashira, and a Demon Slayer in the Demon Slayer Corps.
Genya is a “lone wolf” who refuses to take help from others and is uninterested in being polite or displaying decent manners. He gradually learnt to be more social and courteous to others, particularly Tanjiro and his buddies.
Sanemi’s insecurity stemmed from his inability to accept Genya, as he recognized how small he is in contrast to his friends. Despite this, he tried all he could to aid his colleagues, despite the fact that he was severely injured in the process.
The most fascinating aspect about this guy is his powers. Genya may temporarily gain demonic abilities by eating a Demon’s living flesh.
He will be able to regenerate and restore physical strength equivalent to one, depending on his strength. In this form, Genya has the ability to temporarily overwhelm Aizetsu.
When Genya was battling Upper Rank 1, he developed his own Blood Demon Art by devouring the flesh and cells of at least two Upper Ranks (Kokushibo and Hantengu). Like Nezuko’s, Genya’s Blood Demon Arts were created to fight and inflict harm on other Demons.
Genya showed the ability to split his cells and combine them with his weapon, which, like Kokushibo’s blade, had many eyes on top of the barrel and muzzle, presumably improving accuracy and strength.
Muzan Kibutsuji (No. 5)
Muzan Kibutsuj is the primary adversary in Demon Slayer. He is the first Demon King and the forefather of all other Demons.
Muzan was turned into a Demon millennia ago while trying to heal his own deadly illness, and his lifelong ambition has been to live without fear of death and attain real immortality.
He attempts to do so by overcoming his vulnerability to sunshine, which he is currently trying to accomplish in one of two ways: by searching for the Blue Spider Lily or by creating other Demons in the hopes that one of them would be able to overcome their susceptibility to sunlight one day.
Muzan is cold-blooded, cruel, and very intelligent. He sees no value in anybody he meets, and he has little respect for his own subordinates. He expresses emotion only when his vision of grandeur is realized or when his followers completely submit to his will.
His most distinguishing traits are extreme narcissism, pettiness, and a desire to be the perfect person. Given that he has had almost 1000 years to live and observe with few actual impediments, his extreme egocentrism is virtually unavoidable.
Except for his aversion of walking in the heat, which is his primary motivator, he is virtually indifferent about practically anything.
This odd villain is an excellent match for such a unique tale, and given the scarcity of such characters, it’s simple to understand why people like him.
Zenitsu Agatsuma, No. 6
Zenitsu Agatsuma is a prominent character in Demon Slayer. He’s a Demon Slayer, to be precise.
Zenitsu is a young guy with pale complexion and downward-sloped, scared-looking eyes that fade from light brown to gold. His hair is short and yellow, and it hangs in untidy bangs in front of his ears, breaking off straight at the ends and blending into a deeper orange color.
Zenitsu comes off as a liar when he claims that owing to the dangerous nature of his job as a Demon Slayer, he doesn’t have much longer to live. Despite his strength, he has a poor self-esteem and even believes he is useless, as shown by his inability to accept he killed a Demon and convincing himself that it was Shoichi, despite the fact that the latter was a little kid with no unique Demon-slaying skills.
Despite these faults, Zenitsu strives to meet the expectations that people have of him and will go above and above when required. His colleagues, as well as his late instructor, Jigoro Kuwajima, have a tremendous lot of respect and admiration for him.
Zenitsu is unquestionably one of the show’s most explosive characters, despite first seeming to be little more than a typical comic relief character. Before that, he shows how great his breathing technique is.
The fact that he is now battling
When he passes out, his talents really emerge, demonstrating how effectively his unconscious has been conditioned to cope with such massive difficulties.
Inosuke Hashibira, No. 7
Inosuke Hashibira is Tanjiro Kamado’s traveling companion and one of the main characters in Demon Slayer. He is also a Demon Slayer in the Demon Slayer Corps.
Inosuke is a young guy of medium height and light complexion, with a physique that is exceptionally toned and muscular for his age, particularly around his stomach and arms. He has a wonderfully feminine face, with large, wide eyes framed by an array of long eyelashes, dark to light green irises, thin eyebrows, and what seems to be a small, well-mannered jaw in striking contrast.
His short, black hair reaches far beyond his shoulders, fading to blue at the ends and forming an untamed, uneven fringe that falls slightly over his eyes, bulging up before curling and receding towards his forehead.
He’s an irritable and egotistical young guy who thinks he’s the greatest warrior. This puts him in perilous situations since he seems to exaggerate his capabilities in comparison to the opponent and refuses to accept defeat.
As a consequence of being raised by boars, Inosuke has been shown to have no understanding of normal human conduct, as he continually thinks that those who touch him are trying to harm him and doesn’t appear to appreciate the kindness others show him.
Despite this, the figure stands out from the crowd, earning him a loyal following.
Giyu Tomioka (#8)
Giyu Tomioka is a major supporting character in Demon Slayer. He is the Demon Slayer Corps’ new Water Hashira and a Demon Slayer.
Giyu is a tall young guy with a strong physique and pale complexion who almost always seems unimpressed or apathetic.
He’s wearing a dark cyan-tinted Demon Slayer costume with buttoned white leg-wraps and a pair of white zori with dark blue straps, and his socks are the same cyan color as the rest of his outfit.
Giyu wears a gloomy grin all of the time. He has a quiet manner and a strong sense of justice, and he has little tolerance for those who are blind to their own flaws and squander their lives.
Despite the fact that Tanjiro Kamado’s persistence allowed Nezuko Kamado to live, he kills other Demons without hesitation and with little concern for them, as do other Demon Slayers.
Giyu is protective and caring for everyone he loves about and calls his mates, despite his distant and stern exterior. This is initially shown when he puts his life on the line for Tanjiro and Nezuko, threatening seppuku if the latter ever eats a person.
Fans of the character will want to see more of him because of the personality he was written with.
Kyojuro Rengoku is number nine in the Kyojuro Rengoku series.
Kyojuro Rengoku is a Demon Slayer character that helps out. He is the Demon Slayer Corps’ new Flame Hashira and a Demon Slayer.
Kyojuro is a tall young adult with a muscular physique. He has long, brilliant yellow hair on the side of his head with crimson highlights, two shoulder-length and two chin-length bangs, black forked eyebrows, and golden eyes that fade to red with white pupils.
Kyojuro is a delightfully quirky guy who is extremely enthusiastic about his duties as a Hashira. He had great skill and swordsmanship as a result of rigorous training and discipline. He was pleasant, pure of heart, and had outstanding technique and swordsmanship as a result of hard training and discipline.
Kyojuro is a devoted warrior who upholds his mother’s code of morals and beliefs, the most essential of which is his belief that all born strong people owe it to the poor to protect them.
His distinct breathing style distinguishes him and piques the attention of his admirers.
10. Kagaya Ubuyashiki (Kagaya Ubuyashiki)
Kagaya Ubuyashiki, also known as Oyakata-sama by his subordinates and coworkers, is the commander of the 97th Demon Slayer Corps. He is also the patriarch of the Ubuyashiki family.
Kagaya is a young lady with black shoulder-length hair and pale complexion. He has a curse mark on his body that is slowly killing him and turning his skin rotten, creeping down his face and blinding him.
The curse had spread all over his body by the time he died, making mobility almost impossible. Muzan characterized Kagaya as having a Buddha-like grin when he died.
He usually wears a black kimono with a long white haori with a misty pattern in pink and purple over the lower back.
Kagaya has a calm demeanor and really cares for the Demon Slayers, considering them as his children. He still understands how to handle criticism and is honest about his faults.
While he seems lenient, he is impartial and prejudice-free, as shown by his willingness to recognize Tanjiro and Nezuko’s suffering and even defend their case when others disagreed.
Although his speech is typically flowing and courteous, it is very delicate, using words and intonations that allow the person with whom he is conversing to pay attention.
He is a memorable character whose actions have a significant effect on the plot, which is why fans like him.
